This paper provides an overview of the classification of personal protective equipment for welders, the materials from which the equipment is made, and the harmonized Croatian standards under Regulation (EU) 2016/425. Conformity assessment and certification procedures for personal protective equipment for welders in accordance with the Regulation, concerning II. risk category against which the PPE is intended to protect have been described.
With special reference to protective clothing for welders, a detailed overview of the requirements for garments and their component materials (leather and textile materials) is given. Test methods for specific performance testing and conformity assessment of protective clothing for welders and classification of the level of protection have been established, determined by the standard HRN EN ISO 11611:2015 and harmonized with the essential health and safety requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425
